BTW, I forgot to mention, when Gamestop gives you $25 or $30 of store credit for a "top-dollar" trade-in, they will turn around, resell it for 5 dollars less than brand new. So they will almost double their profit after selling a game the first time.

I understand why it's important for kids to play outside. My generation was probably the last one to really enjoy that benefit to the fullest. I always liked climbing trees myself. I liked forts too, and I used to look for turtles all the time (though I never did). You're right.
I agree with your (and the tabloid's) argument: kids need to play outside more. I was just irritated and amused the way they made that argument. As much as I don't like kids, I won't say that it's bad that they don't fall out of trees anymore. What the tabloid was saying is, kids don't fall out trees anymore, this is bad. I thought that was funny.

You jest, but this is an important concept! Nature Deficit Disorder. Kids need to get outside and build forts in the woods! When I was young, I left the house in the morning, met up with my cousins and built forts in the woods! We dug holes, climbed trees, searched for bugs, lizards, frogs and kept them as pets (temporarily). We learned how to co-exist with nature, why things lived and why things died. We learned how to avoid injury - the warning bells go off the higher in the tree you climb!! Many kids today have not had these experiences, and have not developed self preservation skills, or their skills are stunted.

http://richardlouv.com/ is a site that tells you about an exciting new book by Richard Louv - Last Child in the Woods. I have listened to interviews, and read reviews - and as soon as I'm done with required reading, I plan to dive into this one.

Good song and now to the information you requested!

The article is called Day-in-the-life and is 1600 words in which you immerse yourself into somebody's like. Distinct from a profile in that you are focusing on that person's surroundings as well as the person. And it doesn't have to be a person either it can be a park or bowling alley.

Also, make 8 copies of a feature you like and bring it into class. See you monday.

It is always the few and not the many that stand out - be it for the good or bad. There's only one villian and one hero...the rest of the hard workers who do their job, fight for their country and respect other peoples country's are fogotten in the hype of media drama. Makes me mad.

P.S - did you see the US soldier was released recently?

Military action for younger sons of royalty has always been a must. It has always been seen as important for even the toffs to grub in and get their hands dirty. Sure Harry's lived a golden life, but at what cost? Prince William is jealous of Harry, because William was forbidden to go and fight, all because he's second in line for the thrown. Imagine training intensely for two years in the Royal army, your OWN bloomin' army, only to be told that you are not permitted to use your skills at the end of it? Yeah, royalty, boo hoo, and easy celebrity life. Well, ya couldn't pay me to be royalty, I've got something better...my freedom. You're right mate, gotta give Harry kudos.
